Biogas upgrading

Our solutions ensure reliable and high-quality biogas upgrading and compression for refueling and resale.

BioGAS UPGRADING

Reliable technology

Our biogas upgrading and compression technology can be integrated into a Demeca biogas plant during construction, at a later stage, or into other biogas plants. Our product family includes gFilter, gFuel Upgrade, gFuel Compress, gFuel Station, and gGrid. Demeca holds the necessary permits for natural gas installations in Finland. The produced biomethane is compressed and stored in gas tanks, from which it can be refueled directly into vehicles at a filling station or sold onward in gas containers.

  • Biomethane upgrading 50-100 Nm3/h (BG)
  • 3-stage membrane process
  • Methane restore +99%
  • Biomethane compressing 300 bar
  • Movable gas container and emptying control
  • Tukes (Finnish Safety and Chemical Agency) licensing and auditing process

Clean and affordable fuel

Manure-based biomethane in transportation use can reduce traffic emissions by over 100% over the entire life cycle.

New business from biomethane

The production and sale of biomethane opens up new business opportunities.

Gas container for resale

The gas is pressurised and stored in gas tanks, from where it can be refuelled directly to vehicles from a refuelling meter or sold in a gas container.

Biogas upgrading

Our biogas upgrading and compression technology can be integrated into a Demeca biogas plant during construction, at a later stage, or into other biogas plants. Our product family includes gFilter for biogas drying, filtration, and pretreatment; gFuel Upgrade, a three-stage membrane upgrading system for biomethane; gFuel Compress, a biogas compression unit; gFuel Station, a biomethane refueling station; and gGrid, a gas transfer pumping unit that directs gas into the natural gas grid for sale. Demeca holds the necessary permits for natural gas installations. FAQ

  • What does biogas upgrading cost?

Costs and profitability are calculated on a project basis. First, we find out the needs, present a suitable technical solution and calculate the total cost of the project.

  • What does CNG mean?

CNG (CBG) means ”Compressed biogas” and ”Compressed natural gas”. After biogas production, the gas is pressurised, which can be sold at a filling station or resold in gas containers. In other words, compressed gas is pure, compressed biogas, specifially biomethane.

  • What does the distribution obligation mean?

The purpose of the distribution obligation is to promote the use of sustainable renewable fuels to replace motor gasoline, diesel oil and natural gas in transport. This has been achieved by imposing a national obligation on transport fuel distributors to deliver a minimum share of renewable fuels for consumption each year, known as the distribution obligation.

  • What biogas upgrading technology Demeca use?

The main purpose of biogas upgrading is to extract carbon dioxide from biogas, the second most common gas in biogas, and convert it into pure biomethane. As a processing technique, we use three state membrane technology.
