Pekka Vinkki is the "bionääri" of the year

The Board of Directors of the Finnish Biocycle and Biogas Association has selected Pekka Vinkki as ”Bionääri” of the Year 2023. Pekka is the CEO and founding member of Demeca. The title was announced at the Bioeconomy Days in Lappeenranta on Friday 20.09.2023.

”Biogas offers huge opportunities for the Finnish agricultural sector. For my part, I want to contribute to strengthening the energy and nutrient self-sufficiency of Finnish agriculture and create new opportunities for farms,” Pekka sums up.

Demeca was founded 15 years ago in 2008 and currently employs approximately 60 people. We manufacture smart solutions for agricultural manure processing and fraction utilisation, as well as for self-sufficient energy production. Product development and delivery of biogas plants have been part of Demeca’s operations from the very beginning.

The development of a biogas plant operating on the wet digestion principle began in Haapavesi in 2002 and Pekka TTip has been involved in the development work since 2005. The first plant delivery was made in 2004-2005. We have built or delivered 25 full-scale biogas reactors that are in operation or about to start operations. We will present new biogas plants around Finland at an open house day, where you can learn more about the operations of the biogas plant and farms.

The Finnish Biocycle and Biogas Association invited nominations for the 2023 Bionaari title – June-August. The Board of Directors of the Finnish Biocycle and Biogas Association selected Bionaar based on the proposals received.
